Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book you for a Black History talk, project or event at my school, museum, festival or company?

For school visits, please visit my School Visits page. For other requests, please contact me with your proposal via my Contact & Social Media page.

What’s the difference between your talks and workshops?

I offer two types of ‘meet the author’ Black history presentations for children:

  • A 30-minute talk consists of a presentation followed by a Q&A.
  • A longer workshop consists of a presentation followed by an art activity.

My talks are suitable for schools.

My longer history-themed art workshops are more suitable for museums, libraries and festivals.

How can I get signed copies of your books?

Meeting me at an event is the best way to get dedicated, signed copies of my books. Please see my Events page to see where I’ll be next.

These UK retailers sometimes carry signed copies of some of my books.

  • Book and Kulture
  • Book Love
  • Promoting our Heritage
  • Imperial War Museum (specifically for my book The Story of Britain’s Black Airmen)

How can I get copies of your earlier (self-published) books?

There are very limited quantities available in the UK from Book and Kulture and from BookLove. In the USA, try The Listening Tree

How many books have you written?

As of early 2023, I’ve written four self-published books, three books in the Our Story: New Black Histories series for Scholastic UK and one early reader book for Bloomsbury Publishing. For a full list of my published works, including articles and film scripts, please see my bibliography on my About Me page.
